Glock 19x Sight - Today, there is an amazing selection of pistols that are very small and light, hold many rounds, and can be loaded easily. This is a trend these days and many shooters are eating it. And for many people, these small pistols fill the bill nicely for self-defense purposes. I have a few small guns myself. With that in mind, why would I choose the Glock 19X as my next handgun? Of course, there are light, small options for concealment.
As mentioned, I already have that base covered and I was going to fill another niche; I was looking for a combat gun that would allow me to succeed in a bad environment. If this pistol could be concealed, that would be an added bonus.

Let's face it, if we expect real trouble, we'll be fighting something more important than a gun (better yet, avoid fighting altogether). Everything is assumed to be perfect. That, because of Murphy's Law, is usually not the case. Pistol bullets are not bad effective jammers because of their low velocity.

On the other hand, it is not always convenient or possible to carry a long gun with us, and therefore the gun is always the weapon that we must work with, which brings me to the point of this article.
What is now the Glock 19X was introduced to the military as a competitor to their XM17 MHS (Modular Weapon System) several years ago. This gun was intended as a side weapon for use in confined spaces, such as by car crews. The pistol needed to have a significant magazine capacity (of course it does) and be very reliable (of course it does). A mechanical safety is included in the military's recommendations, but Glock chose to leave the safety on the pistol sold to the public.
In the end, the military chose the Sig P320 for reasons I won't repeat here, although the word on the street is that price was the straw that broke the camel's back. A book could probably be written on all the details of the service examination, and it is not my intention to rehash the line. Suffice it to say, Sig and Glock are great guns and I know many people who own and are happy with both brands. I really like the Glock for reasons I'll get to in a moment. The fact that more than half of law enforcement agencies in the US (and other military units) issue Glock pistols doesn't hurt either.
Specifications for the 19X are a barrel length of 4.02 inches, a weight (with empty magazine) of 24.83 ounces, and a height of 5.47 inches.

To simplify the dry specs above, the 19X has a Glock 17 grip and a Glock 19 slide. Full size grip, short slide.
At first, many in the shooting circle came close to feeling scared, and 55-gallon drums of antacids were used to induce vomiting. You see, many shooters wanted something different; Short muzzle (better for concealing the pistol) and long slide (longer sight radius for hitting distant targets).
But did they really know what they wanted? Fast forward to the present day and we see the gun crowd singing the praises of the 19X and its "reverse" anatomy. I know a few people who really like the 19X. Well, what is happening in the world to change people's minds?
To better understand this, let's go back to around 1970, when the idea of a combat commander was implemented (or, shall we say, in iron). It had a 1911 with a…wait for it…full size stock and short slide!

The same concept applies to the Glock 19X (and Glock 43X) as a combat commander. The full size grip allows for good access and loading of full ammo.
First, it clears the pad faster because there is obviously less slippage to get it out of the clip, and in a split-second gunfight it can make a difference. A quick sketch is always good. The difference between the slide lengths of the G19 and the G17 is about half an inch, with the G19 clearly shorter.
The front of the slide and the frame are both angled, making it easier to overlap than previous models that did not have these features. Also note the Coyote Brown finish.
After that, a short slide allows the shooter to pinpoint targets quickly. Also, there is a small slider to rotate and at close range the user can aim quickly. Is it a big advantage? It's not amazing, but as a quick shot, we're shaving off fractions of a second from our response time, and it can add up. Likewise, a short slide helps on both fronts.

Critics complain about the short-sightedness radius and how inaccurate it can be. The question you need to ask yourself is how far do you plan to engage his goals? Even the long slide of the Glock 19 can be engaged at extended range, like other combat pistols, so the short slide is not a handicap. When weighing the pros and cons, I'm going with the short slide because it's more convenient, faster, and gets the job done, thank you very much!
With all these things in mind, Glock did not come up with a new, innovative idea with the "X" series, because it was designed decades ago. However, I give them credit for repurposing this idea and incorporating it into their line of guns. They go against the grain and come up with a better product for it.
That being said, if I were looking for a Glock to carry with protection and concealment in mind, I would go with the Glock 43X (actually, that's the way I went) or the Glock 19. Both are capable guns. However, for the reasons mentioned above, I went with the 19X. This article is therefore a bit of a comparison, at least for the mission philosophies covered by the pistols.
The 19X comes with four adjustable back rests to fit different hand sizes and shapes - two for medium and two for large hands. The medium size and single size have a beavertail configuration for users who need a grip. I will say that this row is very good. They are installed by removing the pin from the pistol grip, cocking it back and re-inserting the pin. Its implementation is very simple. Personally, I didn't use any of them because I wanted as little grip as possible for my average-sized hands. The grip is already large and I didn't want to add too much length to the trigger reach.

That said, even my normal hands have no problem getting a good grip on this 19X. For me, it's not as comfortable as my 43X, which has a weak grip, which I find to be my favorite among the Glocks.

However, when shooting the 19X, this additional shell grip has the advantage of spreading the recoil over a larger area, which means better control. Control isn't that close to a problem in a 9mm full size gun, but more control is always better. The 19X grip does not have the finger grooves of other Glock models, and most of us are happy to see them omitted. RTF (Rough Textured Finish) is used on the grip and provides excellent traction while holding the pistol without being heavy on the skin.
Some extras come standard with the 19X and really put it ahead of other Glock offerings. The first things I was really excited about when they arrived were the night bells. Well done, Glock! This should be standard on every gun they sell. They are very light tritium powered 3 dots and their night light is very bright.

Overall, I love these ideas (if you haven't heard my enthusiasm yet). If the buildings are steel, they will last forever. One of the only things Glock fans complain about is the polymer sight most of their pistols are equipped with, and Glock has eliminated that problem with the 19X.
